The countdown is on— 18 days until the New Year! Let’s be honest, it’s almost human nature for everyone to make a resolution of losing “x” amount of pounds in the New Year. It’s a fresh 365 days and while you can say you want to do something, your actions will truly be the test.
I am just a few pounds away from my goal for 2017 (yay) which would leave me 20bs away from my ultimate goal which I plan to tackle in the first quarter of 2018. If you are one of those people who are waiting until the 1st, which by the way you don’t have to wait, but if you are you should prepare yourself now; mentally, emotionally, and physically— of course. I’ve made it a little easier for you by gathering up a list of things that can at least be your step 1 to a lifestyle change in 2018.

2. A Fitness Tracker
A good and accurate tracking device for your workouts can be an investment, but a good one. There are so many different options on the market depending on your preference. Whether it’s calories burnt you want to count or the steps you’ve taken throughout the day there’s a tracker for it. 3. A Workout Outfit You Love
I’ve written multiple articles in the past about the positive affect that a fashionable workout outfit can have on your workout. It’s not rocket science— when you look good you feel good. Invest in an outfit you love, so when you step in the gym fresh and ready to smash those goals in 2018 you can go feeling amazing. My favorite brand is Nike (as you guys know)—my ideal investment would be a cute sports bra and a nice pair of gym tights.
Sometimes people underestimate the importance of sneakers. A comfortable shoe can improve your workout 100% based on if it’s easier to run in them, if they have good support. Too often our excuses take over, don’t let your excuse be you need new workout sneakers. Invest in a pair of good shoes made for working out like these and be ready to put in work.
5. A journal
Journals are SO essential. You can document your journey, you can document your food for the day, and you can even keep progress reports of your journey. My 2018 journal that will be used for all the above is from Please Notes, it reads “You Are Capable of Wondrous Things.” Who doesn’t want to read that before opening their journal?! It has inspirational quotes on the bottom of each page and it is full of affirmations.
6. Reusable Water Bottle
As you know, drinking water is a HUGE part of weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle. If you’re like me and go through multiple bottles of water a day then it’ll be a good investment. 7. A Plan
Y’all had to know this was coming! When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Do not jump into wanting to change your lifestyle without planning. Proper planning is essential to success. Whether you map out what you need to do per month, week, etc.— have a plan! Hold yourself accountable and the success will follow.
