Winter Workplace Style Guide: Coats, Turtlenecks, and More!

Hey girl, hey! New York’s temperatures have been extremely cold lately, it’s almost like we skipped fall. While I was looking forward to rocking my fall faves Mother Nature said, “Nah.” But, it’s all good because I love winter fashion, too!

In celebration of Tyler Perry’s, Nobody’s Fool featuring Tiffany Haddish, Omari Hardwick, Tika Sumpter, and Whoopie Goldberg I’ve partnered with Paramount Pictures to bring you a Winter Workplace Style Guide in honor of Sumpter’s boss babe character. The film touches on two strong black female’s who are teaching each other how to navigate love, family, sisterhood, and the workplace — sounds a lot like my best friends and I!

See some of my style hacks to rock a corporate chic look during the winter below.

I live for a good coat, and if it’s belted you can automatically throw it in the bag for me! I prefer to rock pants, but in some office cultures skirts and dresses are a necessity. No problem—make it fun! This pinstripe number has a funky asymmetrical design and it has a matching blazer to rock in the office. Long wool coats are key to having your legs out in the winter because it keeps those thighs warm. See some cute coats below from Zara, H&M, Bloomingdales, ASOS, and Rent the Runway.

Turtlenecks should be your best friend in the winter! Not only do they keep you warm, but they allow you to wear summer pieces like this houndstooth dress and transform it to a winter vest. You can take your favorite strapless dress or tank top and wear a turtle neck under it to jazz up your office style. If it’s extra cold slip on your favorite pair of trousers for the ultimate boss babe look!

I’m clearly a wide leg pants stan! They work for my body, which is key especially when you’re in the workplace. Everyone’s office culture is different, but the more professional you keep your attire the better; part of this is knowing what fits your body properly. During the snowier months, I like to wear slim ankle pants because they can be stuffed into boots and they don’t carry the snow with them like palazzo pants. Here’s a variety of pants that could work with a pump or a bootie in the winter to keep your feet warm. Don’t be afraid to play with a printed pant, pair it with a matching or solid blazer to strut your style in the office.

Last, but definitely not least I would never leave fur out the equation of a winter style guide! Whether you want to rock a fur stole over your work suit, slip a fur coat on top of your frock, or wear a cozy knit with fur in the office it can add a statement to any look.

I can’t wait to see the bomb looks that the cast of Nobody’s Fool will be wearing! Want to catch a screening of the movie in NYC this weekend with me?! Get your passes here.
