I’m Asia Milia, the creator of CURVES N CARDIO, a platform where I inspire women to live a healthier lifestyle without taking away from the glitz and glam of their life. While you may know me for fashion and beauty, fitness is actually something that has been a longtime love of mine. In 2014 during my freshman year of college, I quickly realized that adjusting to being away from home and in college was putting extra weight on me. I wanted to work in the fashion industry and I couldn’t fit the clothes I wanted to wear, so I decided to start a fitness journey.

For my 18th birthday I asked for a NutriBullet, an intentional gift that would set me up for the journey I was about to embark on. My goal was to lose 50 pounds and I did it in 9 months. At 18 years old as a college student who partied every other weekend and lived in a dorm room, this was something that shocked a lot of people (including myself). I received loads of questions from girls on campus asking how I did it, so I decided to create an Instagram page dedicated to answering all their questions from what workouts to do to how to eat a balanced diet in college. Overtime, it grew to be a community of women outside of my campus who were inspired by my journey.

I grew to love this community and wanted to motivate and inspire others so bad that sometimes it came at the expense of my personal journey. I started to feel like I had to go to the gym to post a selfie so I would motivate the next person to get up and go, but that only caused me to have an unhealthy relationship with social media and the gym. It took away from me really putting in the work. I took a step back from CURVES N CARDIO and focused on my career for my first few years out of college. After all, I started the journey as motivation for my career, but little did I know, there was purpose in the journey.

As I progressed in my career, I regressed in my fitness journey. Internship after internship, I slowly put the weight back on. I was in the height of my hustle—working multiple jobs, working from sun up to sun down, and more. Taking care of myself just wasn’t my priority and while I thought I was chasing happiness with a career, overtime I learned that my happiness actually starts from within and balancing my career and fitness played a part in that.

Balancing was a struggle for a while until the pandemic hit. Working from home and having social events stop granted me time that I never had before and I felt like I could finally pour my all into fitness again like I did in college. But, this time I was approaching it with a new mindset. I’m older, wiser, and I just want to be healthier overall now. Now that I’ve had a year to truly pour into myself and take my body to heights it’s never been before, I want to pour into my CURVES N CARDIO community.

To my crew whose been here from the beginning and watched the ups and downs, thank you. If you’re just being introduced to me and my journey, thank you. Here, I don’t want you to obsess over losing weight or obtaining a body goal that isn’t yours, but I want you to focus on living a healthier life and understand that you can live your best life, hang with your girls, put on your favorite looks, and do all the things you love while still creating a lifestyle that is sustainable and healthy. Welcome to CURVES N CARDIO.
